Interns

Independent Diplomat offers internships, lasting 4-6 months, to exceptional applicants seeking a rewarding, hands-on experience in all aspects of an NGO dealing with international relations. Independent Diplomat recruits year-round for internships. Please check our employment page for instructions on how to apply.

Please note that our internships are unpaid, although Independent Diplomat will pay reasonable travel expenses for successful candidates.

 

Current interns

Ken Page - Brussels, 2010

Before joining ID, Ken worked for over two years in the Irish local government sector, and also recently in the Brussels based European Council on Refugees and Exiles [ECRE]. Ken holds an LLM in International Law from the University of Edinburgh, specialising in interventionism and human right law, as well as an M.A in Modern International Relations from University College Dublin, Ireland, focusing on geopolitics and terrorism.

Jessica Sauer - Washington, DC, 2010

Jessica graduated from Georgetown University with a MA in Conflict Resolution and a certificate in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergencies. She has a BA in Spanish and a minor in Communication from the University of Northern Iowa. She studied abroad at Universidad de Tarapaca in Arica, Chile and was a student ambassador to Pribram, Czech Republic. She worked as a youth camp director in Europe and Asia for NATO and the US Army and previously interned for the National Center for Cultural Competency. She currently works for the Senate Sergeant at Arms.

 

2010 Interns

Zhong Zhong Chen - New York, 2010

Zhong joined ID after having recently completed a MSc. in History of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he is now a prospective PhD student. He also holds a Combined Honours B.A. from McMaster University in Economics and Political Science and has previously worked at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, Germany where he was part of the Growth/Business Cycle Analysis working group

Sokeel Park - New York, 2010

Sokeel joined ID after interning with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Division for Sustainable Development. He recently completed an MSc in Theory and History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Warwick. Previously, he has worked for the International Training and Cooperation Division of LOGODI, an agency of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, South Korea. 

Jascha Scheele - New York, 2010

Prior to joining ID, Jascha worked as a policy coordinator with the Assembly of European Regions in Strasbourg, as well as a consultant for the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) in Berlin and the Philippines. He holds an M.A. in International Relations from the Humboldt University and Freie University in Berlin, where he specialised in peace and conflict studies. He is currently enrolled at Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy where he is specialising in nonprofit management and international development.
