Nicholas Whyte

Nicholas Whyte Website PhotoNicholas Whyte is Director of ID's Brussels office and leads our European projects. He was previously the Europe Program Director of the International Crisis Group, managing the organisation's research and advocacy on the Balkans, South Caucasus, Moldova and Cyprus, and has also worked for the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia.

Nicholas is originally from Northern Ireland, where he participated in the peace process in the mid-1990s as the central election campaigns manager for the cross-community Alliance Party. He holds a doctorate from the Queen's University of Belfast, where he is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work. He is also on the International Advisory Board of the South-East Europe Research Centre in Thessaloniki, Greece. Nicholas holds citizenship of the United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium.
