About Us

Independent Diplomat (ID) is a non-profit diplomatic advisory group that helps those most affected by crises and conflict access the high-level political discussions about them. We strive to achieve lasting peace and justice by building the diplomatic capacity of marginalized groups and democratic governments to achieve their goals.

Mission

Independent Diplomat supports those in conflict and crisis to access and influence the international decision-makers and processes that matter to them. We do this by providing committed high-impact diplomatic support, advice, and training.

Vision

A more inclusive, equitable, and effective diplomatic system that responds to the needs and priorities of those most affected by crises and conflicts.

Our History

Founded in 2004, Independent Diplomat emerged from a simple observation: those most affected by diplomatic decisions often have the least access to the diplomatic process. Our founder recognized this paradox during his time as a British diplomat. ID has since evolved from a groundbreaking concept into a trusted partner for marginalized groups seeking to navigate complex diplomatic processes, with the support of a wide range of governments, philanthropic foundations, and individuals. Our work has expanded to encompass conflict resolution, emerging global threats and how to drive systemic change in diplomatic institutions.

ID has opened doors for us, helped us hone our advocacy, and ensured our ideas and views drive diplomatic discussions about our own future.
